Handbook on Germany’s European Policy, 2nd Edition

The Handbook on Germany’s European Policy will be published in a second fully revised edition at the end of 2020 on the occasion of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The new edition of the anthology takes into account the latest developments in German European policy and its influence on European integration and decision-making processes. The renowned authors offer a broad and analytical access to the foundations and concepts of German European policy, the domestic political determinants as well as selected EU internal and external policy areas. An important innovation results from a change of perspective, which also reflects the view of German European policy from selected partner states. The new edition is also supplemented by a concluding theoretical perspective on German European policy.

All in all, it becomes clear that European policy is of particular value and benefit to Germany’s political and economic reality and that Germany in particular, due to its weight, has a decisive influence on the shaping of European integration and on EU decision-making processes. Therefore, the handbook is a helpful guide for anyone who deals with various aspects of Germany’s European Policy in academic, political or practical ways.

The new edition of the Handbook on Germany’s European Policy entails:
