Capacity to Act and Acceptance in the EU-25 — Hungarian and German Positions

Exactly a half year before the accession of Hungary into the EU, the 13. Annual Conference of the German-Hungarian Forum took place on 31 October and 1 November 2003 in Budabest. Over 200 participants from both countries presented German and Hungarian positions on the question “Capacity to Act and Acceptance in the EU-25”. In the appropriate ambiance of the Andrássy Gyula German University of Budapest, Interior Ministers Dr. Mónika Lamperth and Otto Schily opened the event with addresses on the current development perspectives of the area of freedom, security and justice in an enlarged union.
With large participation of government representatives, members of the German Bundestag and the Hungarian Parliament, representatives of the European Parliament and state governments, and experts from business and academia, the 13th German-Hungarian Forum confirmed its important roll in German-Hungarian relations in the run-up to accession.
