CiSEP Level B “EU Association Skills”: training series completed

IEP and partner organisation successfully complete the first Level B training series of the Civic School for Sound EU Practice (CiSEP).

Being a key player in the EU-Ukraine association process as a Ukrainian civil society requires not only a full understanding of the Association and Free Trade Agreement. In addition, horizontal competences in monitoring, EU coordination, EU legal approximation and public speaking in English are needed. These skills were developed and strengthened within the framework of the Level B training series “EU Association Skills” of the Civic School for Sound EU Practice (CiSEP).

From 19–21 February, the fourth workshop with 19 members from Ukrainian CSOs took place in Kyiv and completed the training series. During three intensive days, the CiSEP fellows strengthened their presentation skills in English and analysed selected directives using the Tables of Concordance. The participants have discussed the monitoring of the EU-UA association implementation process and windows of opportunity for CSO engagement with representatives from the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting. The European perspective on this question was offered by Dobrimir Hristov from the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine. In his input and the ensuing discussion he highlighted concrete interventions of the European Union supporting relevant stakeholder and the civil society involvement in the Association process.

Our fellows now have the opportunity to apply for participation in further CiSEP specialization trainings. The third Level B trainings series will start in May 2018 in Lviv on “Trade and Sustainable Development”. Detailed information on the CiSEP training structure can be found at: www.cisep.eu

Institut für Europäische Politik implements this workshop series in cooperation with Odessa regional organization of All-Ukrainian NGO “Committee of Voters of Ukraine”. The project is kindly supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
