New project “The Relaunch of Europe. Mapping Member State Reform Interests” launched

The project “The Relaunch of Europe. Mapping Member State Reform Interests”, implemented by the Institut für Europäische Politik in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, analyses the willingness of governments, political parties, civil society organizations and the general public to deepen European integration in the coming years within the framework of a pan-European study. In addition, the project will identify concrete reform projects in the areas of asylum and migration, the Economic and Monetary Union, the Social Union as well as the Defense Union. Support for these current policy initiatives as well as for the five scenarios for the future of the EU laid out by the Commission will be investigated among the aforementioned actors in all member states of the EU-27. On the one hand, the study’s goal is to demonstrate the scope of action for a prompt reform of the European Union. On the other hand, the study aims to provide a scientific investigation of which nations could form a potential ‘core Europe’ in case of further differentiation within the process of European integration. The results of the study are to be presented in October 2017.
