The devil is in the detail. 2nd CiSEP training on EU project cycle management

Our CiSEP Alumni have plenty of project ideas with the aim to bring Ukraine closer to the EU. They deal with participatory governance, health, ICT, and cultural heritage. Yet, a good idea is never enough. After all, every project realization requires sufficient funds and administrative capacity. For this reason, IEP is currently training 20 CiSEP alumni in EU Project Cycle Management (EU PCM).

Our second PCM workshop took place from 23–25 May in the Ukrainian city Dnipro. During these fully packed training days we worked on exemplary Calls for Application. In numerous group exercises and coaching sessions we focused on two equally important topics: the Logistical Framework Matrix and the project budget. A number of practical exercises illustrated very well that – when it comes to EU PCM – the devil is in the detail. This became especially clear in our session on Ukrainian financial regulations as compared to EU project requirements. Here, we worked our way through numbers and digits jointly scanning a fake budget for mistakes and suggesting corrections.

The workshop took place in the framework of our CiSEP Level C Train-the-trainer programme on EU Project Cycle Management. The training group will meet again from 18–20 June.

CiSEP is implemented by Institut für Europäische Politik in cooperation with the Dnipro organisation of the Public Chamber of Ukraine and Polissya Foundation for Regional and International Studies. It is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
