“Alternative Europe!” Final Conference
We have used the year of the 60th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome together with Polis180, the Young European Federalists, Europäische Akademie Otzenhausen and many other partners, to strengthen and sharpen the European consciousness especially among junior researchers, civil society activists and young professionals. After several workshops and discussions within the project “Alternative Europe!” over the last year, a final conference on the Future of the European Union on 7/8 December took place at Deutsches Architektur Zentrum DAZ Berlin. On this occasion, the young participants of the project presented their visions for the future of Europe and a common manifesto and put them up for discussion.
The aim of the conference was to discuss visions for the further development of European Integration in the areas of Economic and Monetary Union, Social Europe, Common Foreign and Security Policy, Asylum and Migration Policy and digital society, as well as political participation and citizenship with young scientists, young civil society activists and high-ranking representatives from politics, science, civil society and industry. The starting point of these discussions were future visions by the participants of “Alternative Europe!” about the Europe in which they want to live in the future.
